Not all let properties are the same

We have all come across landlords who are intent on getting the most from their rental properties with minimal input of time and expense. Unfortunately, you only have to look at the sorry state of the front of most let properties in Oxford to see this.

This is not the case with 18 Benson Road, owned and maintained by Nasreen and Francis Rich. The semi detached house is in a quiet residential road in Headington with good bus links, and from where you can walk to Headington shops and the Cowley Road in 15-20 minutes.

When we acquired the house in 2009 it too was in a very run down state. So we set about giving it a complete refurbishment, including installing a new boiler, two new washrooms and internal insulation. Then the house was plastered and decorated throughout. The fixtures are the best we could afford including pocket sprung mattresses leather sofas and solid furniture for a simple modern look. The heavier work was done by Francis himself, who has previously built complete homes from bare ground, with Nasreen giving her input into the lighter work.

Outside Francis repaired the render and the bay window, and installed decking. With the aid of Jo Moulder, the gardener who maintains our own garden, the gardens were hedged and planted.

The result is a lovely warm comfortable family home restored with love and care that we would be happy to live in ourselves.

It does not end there - because Francis can fix virtually anything, if there are any issues whatsoever, we can deal with them ourselves promptly. Our current tenants are happy to provide references to this effect.

We hope you will give us the opportunity to show you the house, Nasreen and Francis Rich
